Capture's MegaVac provides a comprehensive therapeutic solution for clots in
every vessel of the body. The technology can simultaneously perform
thrombectomy, vessel occlusion, embolic protection and anchoring. The MegaVac
has the potential to become the standard of care for clot removal and related
adjunctive therapeutic procedures.
Two therapeutic medical devices comprise our MegaVac Mechanical Thrombectomy System (MTS) for clot removal: the MegaVac Vacuum Extraction Thrombectomy (VET)™ Catheter and the ThromboWire™ Clot Retractor. The MegaVac VET features a unique funneled distal tip, that when deployed, occludes blood flow by creating a seal with wall apposition. The mouth of the catheter is positioned just proximal to the target thrombus. Using a manual syringe, clot is aspirated into the large mouth and through the catheter. With blood flow arrested, aspiration of the clot is highly efficient since the device prevents blood flow from interfering with suction. Safety is also enhanced with the stoppage of blood flow, preventing clot and debris from traveling downstream and causing damage.
The ThromboWire is a novel device that features a deployable wire-based basket which functions to pull clot into the VET catheter. It is positioned distal to the clot and deployed to provide efficient movement of the entire clot into the funnel catheter. Clot is retracted while simultaneously aspirating with the VET catheter. The device is highly effective in removing organized or adherent thrombus that is resistant to other treatments. The unique basket design helps prevent clot fragments from traveling downstream and resulting in distal embolization.
